South Sichuan Bamboo Sea flood
The aftermath of a severe storm over the South Sichuan Bamboo Sea in China over the night of 28/29 August. As red rivers flowed downed slopes into the lobby of the Shunan Hotel it became like an estuary at flood tide. Here staff are attempting to sweep out the water.
Another view in the South Sichuan Bamboo Sea where landslips exposed the red sandstone soil. Here a huge slip has carried a grove of bamboos with it in the Ink Brook Valley.

First trip to Tibet
Here is a fleeting moment seen from the 24 hour journey from Xining to Lhasa on the Qinghai-Tibet railway.
A dawn sky at the Xiongse Nunnery not far from Lhasa.
